Dry Ice Blasting is one of sweeping method (blasting) which similiar with sand blasting, bead blasting, or soda blasting, where a media pushed with high pressured air stream (or other inert gas) to blast / hit surface to be cleaned.
Dry Ice Blasting cleaning or sweeping method works with 3 process :
1. Kinetic Effect
Kinetic energy transfered from dry ice media to surface, hit the dirt and then turned it to heat or calor that causing sublimation (phase change process from solid to gas).
2. Thermal Effect
At some stage, dirt and substrat (surface) become freezed that caused by blasting stream. Dry icehas -78,5ºC. Two different material have different refrigeration speed also, and this matter can weeeken the tying of both material. This matter can perceived clearly at strong resin which patch at metal surface.
3. Fragmentation
Dry Ice media that heated, had form changed to carbon dioxide (CO2) gas, volumes of media would suddenly increase and CO2 gas will enter between dirt till lowermost of the surface. This effection of sublimation pushes dirt from the lowemost surface, so the dirt that stick to surface will shed.
